The Middle Monongahela Industrial Development Association, Inc. (MIDA) was formed in 1966 to develop temporary and future plans for the 256 acre site suddenly idled when US Steel shocked the entire Mon Valley with the devastating news that it was permanently closing the historic American Steel & Wire plant. Since its inception, MIDA has created a successful industrial park located in Donora, Pennsylvania, and owns a second park in Speers, PA. Over 40 companies located in the two industrial parks take advantage of the close proximity to major interstates, the rail system, the riverfront, low utilities, and the good quality of labor force throughout the Mon Valley region.
The AltaVista Business Park is their third business park. This 256 acre site sits on I-70 in Washington County at interchange 32B. Any company located in the park will pay no state or local taxes until 2011. AltaVista offers business sites that will be serviced by underground utilities and a state of the art technoogy system.
